Kats cross country runners sweep in Natchitoches

Both the Sam Houston State men's and women's cross country teams won the team titles at the Northwestern State Demon Invitational Friday evening.
The Bearkat women, paced by seniors Whitney Rister and Allison Ferries scored 19 points to beat out Northwestern State University and Louisiana College . Rister and Ferries, along with freshman Molly Farrell, captured the top three spots in the individual standings as the Bearkats had six runners finish in the top 10.
Sam Houston's men's cross country team edged out Louisiana Tech 28 to 34 as seniors Dustin Joubert and Keith Edmond finished first and second, respectively, in the individual standings.
“I still don't feel like we are as good as we can or should be, but we are getting great team leadership from our seniors and our freshman are coming along,” cross country coach Jesse Parker said..
Up next for the Bearkats is the Southland Conference Championships on Saturday, October 27 th at West Guth Park in Corpus Christi.
