Three Bearkats receive SLC academic honor

Brittany Foerstner, junior defender from Garland; Monica Madden, junior midfielder from Austin Anderson; and Alison Oakland, sophomore forward from Austin McNeil each were honorable mention selections on the 2007 Academic All-Southland soccer squad.
Foerstner is an education major with a 3.56 grade point average. She started seven matches and played in six others during the season.
Oakland tied as the soccer team's leading scorer this season with six goals. She has compiled a 3.51 overall GPA as a management major.
Madden holds a 3.18 GPA majoring in kinesiology. She played in all 17 matches for the Bearkat soccer team this season.
The three helped lead Sam Houston to second Southland playoff berth in program's five seasons.
