EL PASO -- Peta Taylor won a 10-point tiebreaker 14-12 after splitting sets at number three singles with Megan Pritchard to give the Sam Houston State women's tennis team its only point in a 6-1 non-conference loss to Texas-El Paso Saturday afternoon.
Taylor and Irina Sotnikova also won their pro set at number one doubles 9-8, but the Miners took the number two and three doubles to earn the match's doubles point.
"We're never happy with a loss, but our level of play today was much better than that of Friday's in our first loss to Arkansas State," Head Coach Jim Giachino said. "UTEP is a high quality, well coached team, yet we played them very close in many matches."
