When did you start participating in Track & Field / Cross Country?
I started running long distance on my own in the fourth grade, and joined Track and Cross Country teams when I was in middle school.
Who has had the greatest impact on your career?
My dad, John Santos
What's your favorite sport other than Track & Field / Cross Country?
I love watching NFL and College Football, but my favorite sport to participate in is Snowboarding.
If you could participate in a different event in Track & Field, which would it be?
High Jump
What is the best part about being a college athlete?
Being apart of big competitions, meeting new competitors, and hanging out with my teammates.
After meeting Coach Parker, what was your first thought?
That he was extremely knowledgeable about training and that I could learn a lot from him.
What is one thing Coach Parker always tells you?
Something that Coach Parker has said to me and has always stuck: “Hard work does not guarantee success; it only guarantees you the opportunity to succeed. And without hard work you have zero opportunity to succeed.”
What opposing schools do you most look forward to competing against?
Any of the bigger schools from major conferences; because it's fun to see how you stack up against them.
What is the highlight of your sports career?
Walking on to the Sam Houston Track team my Junior year of college. It was a great feeling to know that all my hard work had finally paid off and that I was a part of something special.

I would buy a house in the
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Be taller
If you had a supernatural power, what would it be?
Healing Factor, like Wolverine of the X-Men. My body would just heal itself from injuries instantly.

The Teacher's Education Program here is one of the very best in the state.
What is the most important thing you've learned as a SHSU Student-Athlete?
To always enjoy and appreciate the moments that you have as an athlete because it will not last forever.
What single thing will you most miss about SHSU when you leave?
My teammates
What is the biggest challenge you've had to overcome?
The first time I tried to walk-on to the SHSU Track team, I did not make the cut. I had to work out hard on my own for another two years before I would make the team.
As a role model to young athletes, what advice can you give?
Listen to your coaches and the veterans on the team and learn from them. Whatever struggles you have in life or athletics, they've already experienced themselves. They may not have all the right answers, but they will know a lot of the wrong ones.
Name one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?
I am an avid comic book reader and have a large collection of various Marvel Comics.
