
Four top high school track athletes sign

Four high school seniors have signed letters-of-intent to attend Sam Houston State and compete for the Bearkat track and field team.
Patrick Krol and Haleigh Putska of Brazos High School, Emily Erickson of Crowley and Joey D'Eramo joined the Bearkat program that has produced five Southland Conference team championships in the past three seasons.

Patrick Krol (Brazos High School) The 2006 Texas Class 2A state champion in the 3200m run, Krol ranked as one of the top 2A distance runners in the state of Texas. He is a four-time district cross country champion and four-time top 15 finished at the state cross country meet. He placed third individually this past fall as he led Brazos High to the state team title. He is the son of Stanley and Wanda Krol. |

Emily Erickson (Crowley High School) Erickson will complete in the pentathlon indoors and the heptathlon outdoors at Sam Houston. She qualified for Texas Class 4A Region 1 championships in the 100 Hurdles (15.4) as a junior. Her best times include 47.1 in the 300 hurdles and 5'4” in the high jump. She is the daughter of Sherry and Gary Erickson. |

Haleigh Putska (Brazos High School) A five-time district champion, Haleigh won the cross country individual title, the 1600m run, and the 3200m run tiles as a junior. She twice finished among the top 10 at the cross country state meet with her best finish coming in 2007 ( 4th). Her best marks include 5:15.4 in 1600m run, 11:40.7 in the 3200m run, and 19:18 in the 5000m run. Haleigh finished 29th in the Congress Avenue Mile (5:08.78) and was named to the cross country Academic All-State team in 2007. She is the daughter of Diane Garner. |

Joey D'Eramo (St Pius X High School)
Joey D'Eramo is a 3-time TAPPS State Champion. In the Fall of 2006, as a junior, D'Eramo won his first Individual State Championship when he ran 17:00 for 5,000-meters at the TAPPS Cross Country Championship. The following Spring, D'Eramo brought home the 3,200-meters TAPPS State Championship. In the Fall of 2007 he successfully defended his State Cross Country Championship when he ran 16:00 for 5,000-meters. D'Eramo has been named to the All-State Cross Country Team on three separate occasions and in 2007 he was named First Team All-State in Track & Field. D'Eramo capped off his senior cross country season by placing 38th at the Footlocker South Championships, running a personal best of 15:40 for 5,000-meters. Joey is the son of Len and Rhonda D'Eramo. |
