Seven men receive All-Southland outdoor track and field honors

Earning medals in three events at last weekend's Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Huntsville, Michael Courtney, Lane Dennis, and Darryl Hayes top the list of Bearkat men athletes who will received All-SLC honors for their performance in the meet.
The Sam Houston State meet rallied for a fourth place team finish. Courtney, Dennis, and Hayes all were members of the Bearkats' first place 4x400 relay and the third place 4x100. Courtney and Hayes finished first and second, respectively, in the 400 meter dash. Dennis won the 400 meter hurdles.
Other Sam Houston men who will receive All-Southland Conference recognition include Chris Cralle, Kevin Houston, Travis Matthews and George Whitney.
Jay Newman in the 400 meter hurdles and Jon Tipton in the discus join the seven All-SLC honorees as Sam Houston State men who have posted qualifying times for the NCAA Regional Outdoor Track and Field championships to be held at the Unviersity of Nebraska May 30-31.
