HUNTSVILLE ? Krista Sitka blasted a two-run homer over the center field wall in the first extra inning of play to give Texas-San Antonio a 6-4 softball victory over Sam Houston State Sunday afternoon at Bearkat Softball Complex.
The victory gave UTSA wins in two of the three contests in the three-game Southland Conference series as the Roadrunners nailed down the No. 3 seed in the SLC post-season tournament to begin Thursday in San Marcos. UTSA ends the regular season with a 25-24 season record and a 20-10 mark in league action.
Sam Houston State will be the No. 7 seed and meet No. 6 Nicholls STate at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the Southland tournament. The Bearkats swept the Colonels in their Southland series in Huntsville earlier this year. Should the Kat softballers win in the first round, they would take on No. 3 Texas-San Antonio in the semifinals.
