Cutter Bernhard (Harper High School)
Cutter is a two time state qualifier in the pole vault. In 2007 he finished third with a vault of 14-9. In 2008, he was the UIL 1A state champion in the pole vault with a mark of 15-0. Cutter has a personal best of 15-3. He is the son of Clyde and Tina Bernhard.
Rickardo Chambers (Cypress Falls High School)
Rickardo comes to SHSU as a sprinter and horizontal jumper. As a junior, Rickardo jumped 22- 9 at the Missouri State Championships to finish second. As a senior at Cypress Falls High School, Rickardo jumped a personal best of 23-1 while also running the 4x400-meter relay. Rickardo boasts personal bests of 10.69 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 21.64 in the 200, and 48.92 in the 400. He is the son of Albert and Jacqueline Chambers.
Joey D'Eramo (St Pius X High School)
Joey D'Eramo is a three-time TAPPS state champion. In the fall of 2006, as a junior, D'Eramo won his first individual state championship when he ran 17:00 for 5,000-meters at the TAPPS cross country championship. The following spring, D'Eramo brought home the 3,200-meters TAPPS state championship. In the fall of 2007 he successfully defended his state cross country championship when he ran 16:00 for 5,000-meters. D'Eramo has been named to the all-state cross country team on three separate occasions and in 2007 he was named first team all-state in track & field. D'Eramo capped off his senior cross country season by placing 38th at the Footlocker South Championships, running a personal best of 15:40 for 5,000-meters. Joey won the 2008 TAPPS 3,200-meter run state championship with a mark of 9:24.81. His time is a TAPPS state record. Joey is the son of Len and Rhonda D'Eramo.
Matt Johnson (Port Neches Groves High School)
A multiple event athlete, Matt comes to SHSU as a five-time regional qualifier. In 2008, he qualified for regionals in four events; the triple jump, the 110-hurdles, the long jump, and the 300-hurdles. Matt boasts personal bests of 14.61 in the 110, 22-41/2 in the long jump, 40.45 in the 300-hurdles, 44-31/2 in the triple jump, and 13-0 in the pole vault. Matt will compete for Sam Houston State as a decathlete.
Patrick Krol (Brazos High School)
The 2006 Class 2A State Champion in the 3,200, Patrick Krol comes to SHSU ranked as one of the top 2A distance runners in the state of Texas. Patrick is a four-time district champion in cross country and has finished in the top 15 at the UIL state cross country championships each of the past four years. His best finish came this past cross country season when he finished 3rd individually as he led Brazos High School to the 2A team championship. Patrick is the son of Stanley and Wanda Krol.
Curtis Patterson (Bay City High School)
Curtis jumped 23-81/4 to finish first at the District 24-4A championships in the long jump. He went on to win the 4A Region III championship and finish 6th at the UIL state championships in the event. He also qualified for his regional championships in the triple jump and as a member of Bay City High School's 4x100 relay team. He also has a personal best of 45-2 in the triple jump.
Blake Woolums (Argyle High School)
A three time state champion, Blake comes to SHSU after tearing up the class 3A distance scene the past two years. As a senior, Blake won both the individual and team state championships in cross country. He followed that up on the track by winning the 3,200 at the UIL state championships. He also came back and finished 3rd in the 1,600 the same day. Blake boasts personal bests of 4:21.67 for the 1,600 and 9:23.00 in the 3,200. Blake is the son of Brent and Andrea Woolums.
