Men 7th, women 11th at A&M cross country

MEN
The SHSU Men's Cross Country Team finished 7th at the Texas A&M Cross Country Invitational. Freshman Taylor Ray lead the Bearkats by placing 7th overall, covering the 8,000 meter course in 24-minutes 56.5-seconds. Also running well for the Bearkats were fellow freshmen Joey D'Eramo and Blake Woolums, who finished 20th and 21st, respectively.
“This was the first 8k race for most of the team and I thought it went well,” said Coach Parker after the race. “Our number 4 and 5 runners can run much better than they showed today, so we still have a lot of work to do to be ready for the conference meet.”

WOMEN
The Women's Cross Country Team finished 11th in the field loaded with some of the best teams from the Big 12 and Conference USA. Freshman Haleigh Pustka led the way for the Bearkats, covering the 5,000 meter course in 19-minutes 24.3-seconds. Following closely behind her was sophomore Molly Farrell, who finished with a time of 19-minutes 36.7-seconds.
“Haleigh ran a much smarter race than she did a few weeks ago in Houston,” said Coach Parker. “She looked really strong the last mile and finished the race very well.”
