Jordan Bowersox named Academic All-Region

Jordan Bowersox, starting center for the Sam Houston State University football team, is one of 25 student-athletes who have been voted as Academic All-Region by the College Sports Information Directors Association for the 2009 season.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America team is the official national academic honor squad recognized by the NCAA. Members of the All-Region first team are eligible for selection to this year's CoSIDA Academic All-America national team.
Bowersox, a senior finance major from Wichita, KS, holds a 3.73 overall grade point average on Sam Houston's 4.0 scale.
He has been the starting center for Sam Houston State the past two seasons. Last year, he earned first team Academic All-Southland Conference honors and was a second team All-Southland selection after blocking for a Bearkat attack that ranked No. 6 nationally in total offense and No. 4 in NCAA Division I FCS play in passing.
This season, he has started all nine games for an offense that is averaging 349.3 yards per game, blocking for quarterback Blake Joseph who has produced the 10th 2,000-yard plus passing season in school history.
Both Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision NCAA Division I football players conferences in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas are eligible for selection to the Academic All-Region team.
