Twenty two high school seniors and one junior college transfer make up Sam Houston State's 2009 football recruiting class.
The signing list includes 11 defensive plays (three linebackers, seven defensive backs and one defensive lineman), 10 offensive players (two quarterbacks, three wide receivers, two running backs, and three offensive linemen) and two kickers.
"We're very pleased with our 2009 recruiting class," SHSU head coach Todd Whitten said. "I'm proud of the great job our coaching staff did. They covered a lot of ground. It's a very complete class with 11 defensive players and 10 offensive. We covered every position where we needed help. Very pleased to sign a talented young quarterback from Oklahoma, Kyle Webster from Mustang High School. He was the quarterback of the year in the state and is a threat both in the air and on the ground. We signed three quality linebackers. You really don't know how good a recruiting class will be until two or three years down the road, but this one looks to be strong."
