Brittany Brooks, Whitney Smith named All-SLC

Brittany Brooks and Whitney Smith of Sam Houston State each were honorable mention selections on the 2009 All-Southland Conference women's basketball honor squad.
Brooks, a 5-5 business major from Spring, was the leading scorer for the 2009 Bearkats, averaging 10.7 points per game. Smith, a 5-11 kinesiology major from Missouri City, led the Kats in rebounding with 7.0 boards per contest and was the team's second leading scorer with 10.3 points per contest.
Brooks ranked second for the Bearkats with 83 assists for the season. She shot 31.8 percent from three point range, hitting 34 of 107. Smith also led the team in blocked shots.
Both will return as seniors for Sam Houston State during the 2009-10 season.
