COLLEGE STATION ? Texas A&M handed Sam Houston State a 6-1 non-conference softball loss Wednesday night at the Aggie Softball Complex.
Singles by Bailey Schroeder and Natalie Villarreal put the Aggies up 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning. Sam Houston tallied in the second inning. Alex Survant doubled then scored on an error after a Mandy Gegan single.
Schroeder picked up another RBI with a bases loaded single in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Aggies picked up another run on a fielders choice to goup 4-1. Rhiannon Kliesing added a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Amy Brown added two hits and Hailey Wiginton and Whitney Wilson each produced singles as Sam Houston State totaled six hits.
Brandi Crnkovic (10-11) was the losing pitcher for Sam Houston, giving up seven hits in five innings while striking out three Aggies. Morgan Mikulin pitched the final inning.
Sam Houston State drops to 23-22 for the season. The Bearkats travel to Thibodaux, LA, to face Nicholls State
