Women sign 6-3 post from Brazil

Ana Migueres, a 6-3 post player from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, who has played the past two seasons at Cisco Junior College, is the latest women's basketball recruit signed by Sam Houston State head coach Brenda Nichols.
Migueres averaged 8.1 points and 5.2 rebounds during her sophomore season at Cisco. She played in 19 games. As a freshman, she earned All-Conference honors after scoring 13.2 points per contest and pulling down 7.3 rebounds. She was one of only two freshmen in the league to earn All-Conference honors. She ranked No. 13 in NJCAA scoring, No. 8 in field goal percentage (.531) and No. 24 in rebounding.
“We are thrilled about Ana becoming a Bearkat,” Nichols said. “She gives us a legitimate post presence inside that can score, rebound, and block shots. She was highly recruited and will be an immediate impact for us inside.”
Migueres was ranked as the fourth best junior college post in the country by the “Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.”.
“This is a big signing for us.” said Nichols.
Migueres joins Clarke Davis, Sequeena Thomas, and Chanice Smith, who signed letters of intent last week, as newcomers to the Bearkat women's basketball program.
