Women's basketball announces 2009-10 schedule

A 28-game schedule that includes 11 home contests at Johnson Coliseum and non-conference road games with Big 12 powers Texas Tech and Oklahoma State and Southeastern Conference foe Arkansas has been announced for the Sam Houston State women's basketball team.
Coach Brenda Nichols' Bearkats will start the season with a pair of exhibition games in Huntsville against Texas A&M International on Nov. 7 and McMurry on Nov. 9.
The regular season begins on Nov. 14 when the Kats travel to Lubbock to meet the Red Raiders. Other non-conference road opponents include TCU, Grambling, New Orleans and Centenary. Sam Houston will participate in the Rice Owl Invitational Dec. 4-5 in Houston along with the Owls, Jackson State and Texas-Pan American.
Highlight of the regular season home schedule for the Bearkat women will be a Nov. 17 visit to Johnson Coliseum by the Ole Miss Rebels. The contest will tip off at 12 noon on Huntsville Independent School District day. Other home non-league opponents include Oral Roberts Nov. 30 and Texas Southern Jan. 12.
The 16-game Southland Conference schedule begins Jan. 9 with a road contest at Stephen F. Austin. The first league home game is Jan. 16 with Southeastern Louisiana.
