
Jason Chandler to head Bearkat ticket operations

Jason Chandler joined the Bearkat athletic staff as assistant director of athletics for ticket operations Monday.
Chandler will oversee ticketing for all of Sam Houston's athletic venues including Elliott T. Bowers Stadium (football), Don Sanders Stadium (baseball), Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum (men's and women's basketball) and Bearkat Softball Complex.
He has worked in intercollegiate athletics as director of sports marketing at High Point University in High Point, N.C., and as marketing and ticketing consultant for Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C.
"With our efforts to enhance marketing and ticket sales for Sam Houston athletics, we're extremely excited to bring a young man with Jason's talents and expertise to Huntsville," David Paitson, associate athletic director for external operations said. "Jason has extensive experience with all the sports in which Sam Houston participates and will make an immediate impact on our efforts to widen the Bearkat athletic fan base."
Chandler was a football lettermen at University of North Carolina, playing in the 2004 Continental Tire Bowl. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and Bachelor of Arts degree in history at UNC in 2004. He also holds Master of Business administration and Master of Sports Administration and Facility Management degrees from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
At Appalachian State, Chandler assisted the marketing and ticket departments with administrative and football game day tasks. At High Point University, he was responsible for all sponsorship sales and directed the marketing, promotions and game operations for 15 varsity sports. He also served as director of marketing for two Big South Conference tournaments (women's soccer and women's basketball) hosted by HPU.
At North Carolina, Chandler assisted in completing a comprehensive marketing plan for UNC baseball coinciding with the 2009 opening of the university's $18 million Boshamer Stadium. He also served as a marketing assistant for Rhodeside and Harwell, Inc. in Alexandria, Va.

I am extremely grateful to athletic director Bobby Williams and association athletic director David Paitson for bringing me to Huntsville," Chandler said. "I look forward to working with all the programs to increase attendance at our Bearkat sports events."
