
Mallory named Southland soccer offensive player of week

The Spring, Texas (Klein) product scored two of Sam Houston's five goals in a 5-1 victory over Nicholls Sunday in Thibodaux, La.
The tallies marked Mallory's ninth and 10th goals of the season, breaking the school record for most goals in a season by a freshman. Kirby Zak set the previous record of nine last year.
Sam Houston stands 4-2 in Southland Conference women's soccer action and will complete the 2010 regular season with three home matches. The first of the three contests will be against Stephen F. Austin Friday at 7 p.m. at Pritchett Field in Huntsville.
The Bearkats are seeking a second consecutive trip to the Southland Conference post-season tournament. The top six teams in the final regular season standings earn playoff berths. Sam Houston reached the Southland tournament semifinals last year.
