
Volleyball plays host to UTA at 2 p.m. Saturday

UT-Arlington visits Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.in a duel of two teams battling for one of the eight spots in the tournament. The Southland Conference post-season event will be held Friday November 19 through Sunday November 21 with the champion earning the league's post-season NCAA bid.
Sam Houston and UTA come into Saturday's matchup ranked third and fourth in the Southland West Division. The Bearkats are 12-14 for the season and 6-5 in league action, having won five of its last seven contests.
The Mavericks own a 12-14 mark for the year and stand 5-6 in Southland action. Sam Houston had to go five sets to defeat UTA 20-25 25-18 25-20 19-25 15-11 when the two played at Texas Hall in Arlington on October 16.
Carli Kolbe leads the Bearkat offense. The junior ranks third in the Southland Conference with 3.45 kills per game. Amanda Aguilera of UTA stands fourth in the league with a 3.42 average.
Sam Houston setter Kym Loving ranks fourth in Southland Conference play with 9.26 assists per set. Raegan Daniel is averaging 8.94 assists per set.
Kim Black leads the Southland Conference in total blocks this season with 108. She stands third in the league in service aces with 34.
Kaylee Hawkins is seventh in the conference in digs with 375.
The UTA match is one of five matches remaining on the regular season schedule for Sam Houston. Three of those contests are home matches.
After a road trip to UTSA and A&M-Corpus Christi, the Bearkats will come back to Johnson Coliseum to play host to the Lamar Cardinals on Thursday November 11.
The 7 p.m. match is "Orange Out!" at Johnson Coliseum. The first 200 Sam Houston students through the gates will each receive a Bearkat volleyball t-shirt following the contest.
