DALLAS – Sam Houston outside hitter Chloe Monson was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week on Monday, per a release from league officials.
It is her second such honor of the season and comes after Monson led the Bearkats to a split of a pair of matches at Delaware, closing out the season and a breakout freshman campaign. She averaged 5.00 kills per set and swung at a .305 clip in the two matches against the Blue Hens.
The first match of the weekend saw Monson turn in her biggest offensive match of the season, connecting on 29 kills while hitting at a .381 clip. She added a dozen digs in the 5-set match for her 10th double-double of the season.
She then closed out the weekend and the year with 16 more scores and seven digs in a 4-set win.
