HUNTSVILLE - Bearkat pitchers Morgan Mikulin and Tomi Garrison each threw one-hitters and Sam Houston totaled 23 runs and 24 hits as the Kats swept a softball doubleheader from Texas Southern 15-0 and 8-0.
Both Mikulin and Garrison had no-hitters going after four innings but had Texas Southern open the fifth inning with a hit.
Mikulin struck out seven batters and had no walks. Before Tenesha Skrine led off the fifth with a double, the only Tiger to get on base earned her trip to first base on a fielding error.
Garrison fanned eight, walking two and having her no-hitter ended by Shannan Colquitt's lead off single in the final inning.
In the first game, shortstop Hailey Wiginton went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and first baseman Amy Brown and outfielder Mandy Gegen both went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
Tori Benavidez, Garrison and Amanda Lindsey all led Sam Houston with two hits in the nightcap.
