Brittany Brooks looks for milestone Saturday

Saturday afternoon's Sam Houston women's basketball game with Central Arkansas in Conway, AR, could be a big day for Bearkat guard Brittany Brooks.
The senior guard enters the contest needing only eight points to become the 11th Sam Houston women's basketball player to score 1,000 points in her career.
Fellow senior forward Whitney Smith already has passed the 1,000 mark with 1,103 career points. Only once before in the 40-year history of Bearkat women's basketball have two players entered the career 1,000-point club in the same season
The Central Arkansas Bears will be another tough road challenge in the contest that tips off at 2 p.m.
Central Arkansas stands 16-5 for the year and are tied for first place in the Southland Conference East Division with a 6-2 league record. Sam Houston is in fifth place in the SLC West at 5-14 for the year and 2-5 in Southland play.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live on KHVL 1490 AM.
Central Arkansas is led by the league's highest scoring freshman player, 5-11 forward Megan Herbert, who is posting 22.3 points per game. Two other Bears are averaging in double figures with 5-11 Desiree Rogers at 12.4 and Nakeia Guiden hitting 10.0.
Brooks leads the team with a 13.5 average. Smith is scoring 12.6 points and leading the Kats with 7.4 rebounds per game. Another senior, Ray Alexander adds 11.4 points per contest.
Central Arkansas leads the women's basketball series with Sam Houston 2 wins to 1. The Bearkats defeated the Bears 62-58 last year in Huntsville. UCA won the first two meetings between the two universities, taking a 73-68 victory in Conway in 2007 and an 87-69 win in Huntsville in 2008.
Following Saturday's game, the Bearkat women return home Wednesday, Feb. 10 to play host to the Nicholls Colonels. The game will tip off at 6:30 p.m.
