Brittany Brooks named All-Southland Conference

Brooks led the Bearkats in scoring this season with 15.4 points per game. She scored in double figures in 20 of Sam Houston's 28 games this year including 32 points in a triple overtime victory against Texas State and 29 points in a one-point win over UTSA.
Brooks completed the 2010 regular season ranked No. 6 in all-time Bearkat women's basketball scoring with 1,166 career points. She stands No. 3 in Bearkat career assists (375).
The senior from Spring led Sam Houston to its first Southland Conference post-season appearance since 2004 as the Bearkats won six of their last eight games. The 8-8 Southland league record and 12 overall victories this year are the best for women's basketball since the 2000 season.
Sam Houston will be the No. 6 seed at the 2010 State Farm Southland Conference Basketball Tournament will be played this week at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.
Four women's quarterfinal games will be played Tuesday beginning at noon with semifinal games Thursday at 12:05 p.m. and approximately 2:33 p.m.
The championship game will be played Friday at 7:05 p.m. Both the semifinals and championship game will be televised on the Southland Conference Television Network and ESPN Full Court.
