The victory in the Bearkats' final regular season dual match gives Sam Houston a 7-4 Southland Conference mark as SHSU finished in fifth place. The Kats are 8-10 for the season.

Sam Houston will be the No. 5 seed at the Southland Conference tournament to played April 23-26 at Corpus Christi. The Kats will play No. 4 seed Lamar in the first round. Sam Houston has earned a berth in the tournament each of the past six years.

Pozzan and Currie each had to battle back from a first set loss to win their matches. Pozzan defeated Roxanne Enica 4-6 6-0 6-4 at No. 1 singles while Currie knocked off Paola Muntuenga 3-6 6-4 6-3 at No. 3

Postnikova won at No. 2 over Alina Shazkho 6-3 6-2 while Dudyanskaya earned a 6-4 6-4 win over Tatiana Smolnikova at No. 4.

In doubles Currie and Cally Woerner won 8-6 in the No. 2 doubles pro set but the Lumberjacks took the doubles point with a win at No. 1 and a default at No. 3
