Baseball travels to Houston Tuesday

After seeing their seven-game winning streak end by a Southland Conference series sweep by Northwestern State last weekend in Natchitoches, La., the Bearkat baseball team looks to get back on the winning track with a pair of non-conference games in Houston the next two days.
First, Sam Houston will take on the University of Houston Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Then, Wednesday at 2 p.m., the Kats will battle Texas Southern. The game with the Tigers orginally was scheduled to be played in Huntsville, but when TSU's field was unplayable on March 2, the pair exchanged home dates.
Sam Houston comes into the week's action with a 12-16 overall record. Houston is 12-14 after dropping a three-game conference series to Rice.
Designated hitter Chris Andreas (.388), out fielder Mark Hudson (.367) and infielder Ryan Mooney (.325) continue to lead the Bearkats at the plate. Sam Houston is batting .297 as a team while the Bearkats' opponents are hitting .307.
Zak Presley (.347) and Joel Ansley (.343) lead the Cougars in hitting.
Following Sam Houston's road contests at UH and Texas Southern, the Bearkats will host a Southland Conference series this weekend against McNeese State. Games will be at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
