Choose your seat option now available

Fans logging on to GoBearkats.com to purchase tickets for the Battle of the Piney Woods will have a new feature before buying tickets. A "choose your seat" option is now available for the annual rivalry game between Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin which will be played at Reliant Stadium this fall.
Tickets are on sale now for the Oct. 23 game between the Bearkats and the Lumberjacks and the prices range from $15 to $35. Now, fans will not only be able to select the price level, but they will actually get a chance to look at the seating chart and select the exact location they want to sit for the game.
"Sometimes, the best seat available is not necessarily where someone wants to sit," said Assistant Athletic Director Jason Chandler. "We wanted to give people to option to sit either high or low in our designated seats for this game. This also makes it easier for fans with special needs to find the seats that work best for them."
In addition to the "choose your seat" option, the athletic department is also offering discounted tickets to several groups attending the game. Groups have been given a block of seats and have a promo code to use to get the discounted seats. So far the groups with reserved blocks for the Battle of the Piney Woods are: SHSU President's Office, SHSU Student Activities, Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity Alumni, SHSU College of Business Administration, SHSU College of Arts & Sciences, SHSU College of Humanities & Social Sciences, SHSU College of Education, SHSU College of Criminal Justice and the SHSU Letterman's Association.
"This is great for the colleges, sororities, fraternities or really any other group wanting to attend not only the game at Reliant Stadium, but any Sam Houston State home football game," Chandler said. "This will make it much easier for everyone in the group to sit together at the games."
This feature should also be available for games at Bowers Stadium in the next few weeks.
