Freshman Kelsi Brown receives area honor

The publication covers high school sports for the Northeast Houston area.
Brown has been a three-time All-District and All-Region selection at Atascocita High School. She was named to the ESPN Rise Magazine All-Area team the past two years.
As a senior at Atascocita, she set a school record with 38 goals during the 2010 season, one of the top Texas Class 5A region scoring marks. She also was credited with eight assists during the season.
Brown has played for Challenge 92 soccer club since 2006, helping lead the team to three state championships and two Region 3 finals appearances.
She played on four-time STYSA state finalist and two-time state championship teams for United Alliance club from 2002 to 2006.
Brown has participated in the Olympic Development Program, earning selection to the South Texas 1991 State Team in 2005-08 and the Region 3 Pool Team in 2006 and 2008.
Kelsi is a terrific player who has had tremendous success with her club and high school teams," Sam Houston head coach Tom Brown said. "She is a good ball winner, a good passer of the ball and a versatile player who can play anywhere in the field. We're very excited about all the freshmen we have joining the program this fall. It's exciting to have our recruits receive these kind of honors."
