More than 300 youth players attended the half-day clinic at Dr. Pink Field at Pizza Hut Park. Participants, ages 6 to 14, engaged in agility drills, offensive and defensive training and character development activities.
The clinic was hosted by the Southland Conference as part of its host responsibilities for the NCAA Division I Football Championship Game in January.
Coaches from the staffs at Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, Central Arkansas, Northwestern State and Southeastern Louisiana worked with the youngsters.
Frisco, which has been home to the Southland Conference office since 2006, is the new host city for the NCAA Division I Football Championship Game which will be played January 7, 2011 at Pizza Hut Park.
"The Southland Conference is honored and privileged to serve as the host conference for the NCAA Division I Football Championship Game," Southland commissioner Tom Burnett said. "The NCAA Football Youth Day Clinic was one of the first of many events which will be held in the coming months to build community support for the championship game."
