Bearkats roll over Bulldogs 30-14 Saturday

True freshman Brian Bell completed six of 13 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns to lead Sam Houston State to a 30-14 non-conference victory over Gardner Webb Saturday at Bowers Stadium.
Another freshman, running back Tim Flanders rushed 19 times for 104 yards including a 54-yard touchdown run for Sam Houston's first score with 5:01 remaining in the first quarter.
Gardner-Webb quarterback John Rock completed 14 of 29 passes for 219 yards and a TD. The Runnin' Bulldogs stand 2-2 while Sam Houston is 1-2.
Sam Houston rolled up 313 yards total offense. Bell passed to Kevin Matthews are a 33-yard touchdown and to Richard Sincere for a 60-yard tally to put the Bearkats up 21-0 in the second quarter.
Miguel Antonio added field goals of 26, 43 and 20 yards to complete Sam Houston's scoring.
Rock passed to Jamal Patmon for a 35-yard touchdown just before halftime and Patrick Hall added a late one-yard scoring plunch with 3:27 to go in the game.
Darnell Taylor led the Bearkat defense with eight tackles.
