Natchitoches, La. -- Hailey Neisler led Sam Houston with 12 kills as the Bearkats lost to Northwestern State in four sets in a Southland Conference volleyball match Saturday afternoon.
The Demons rolled up a 25-18 18-25 25-21 25-22 victory over SHSU to up their record to 9-6 for the year and 1-2 in Southland Conference play.
Sam Houston drops to 0-2 in league action and 6-11 for the year. Carli Kolbe also produced double figure kills with 10. Kourtney Adams led Northwestern State with 10 kills.
In the first set, Sam Houston trailed by one point 18-17 but the Demons closed out the first frame by winning seven of the next eight points.
The Bearkats jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the second set and never trailed the rest of the way. In the third set, the pair were tied 13-13 when the Demons took over to close out the frame.
Northwestern State posted its first win over the Bearkats since 2002.
Sam Houston State will return home to Huntsville for a Thursday game with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Johnson Coliseum.
