
Volleyball hosts Texas Southern at 7 p.m.

The Bearkats bring a 3-5 season mark into the contest, ending a three-match losing streak with a three-set victory over East Carolina last Saturday at the University of Delaware Invitational.
Carli Kolbe, Kaylee Hawkins and Kelli Stewart are the leading offensive threats for Sam Houston.
Kolbe, a preseason All-Southland Conference selection, is averaging 3.33 kills per set and has accounted for 100 points in Sam Houston's eight matches.
Hawkins is averaging 2.43 kills and Stewart adds 2.14 kills per set.
Kim Black leads the Sam Houston front line defensively with 35 blocks this season.
Following Tuesday's contest, Sam Houston will play in two tournaments the next two weekends. Friday and Saturday Sept. 10-11 the Kats will participate in the A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic. Then Sept. 17-18, Sam Houston travels to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl Invitational hosted by Tulane.
The Kats open Southland Conference action with a road swing Sept. 23 and 25 at Central Arkansas and Northwestern State. The next home action for the Bearkat volleyball team will be Thursday, Sept. 30 when they play host to A&M-Corpus Christi.
