A weeklong schedule of events begins Monday at 12 noon with the Homecoming Kickoff at Bearkat Plaza. Other midweek events include the SAM JAM Carnival at Holleman Field Parking Lot Wednesday at 7 p.m., the annual homecoming parade Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on Sam Houston Avenue and the Distinguished Alumni Gala Friday at 6 p.m. at the Lowman Student-Center Ballroom.
Game day excitement begins early as Brookshire Brothers hosts a special Saturday morning pregame tailgate party in the Brookshire Brothers parking lot at 2601 11th Street in Huntsville.
The Brookshire Brothers tailgate will run from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The event will feature an appearance by Sammy Bearkat and the Sam Houston marching band. There will be free food, prize and football ticket giveaways.
The excitement shifts back to campus at 12 noon with the Bearkat band's weekly march to Bearkat Alley and the start of the Homecoming tailgate in the lot north of the Bowers Stadium parking lot.
Kickoff is at 2 p.m. as the Bearkats play host to Nicholls. Homecoming action continues at 7 p.m. at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum when the Sam Houston volleyball team takes on Texas State.
Tickets for the 2011 Homecoming matchup with Nicholls are available now online at www.gobearkats.com/tickets or at the SHSU athletic ticket office located in the Ron Mafrige Field House in the south end zone at Bowers Stadium.
