Kickoff for the game has been changed from 2 p.m. to 3:05 p.m. for the telecast.
Sam Houston State is off to its best start since 1964. The Bearkats are 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference action and will play host to Lamar and visit Southeastern Louisiana before the game with the Demons.
Northwestern State is 4-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play and have games at Texas State and home against Central Arkansas before playing Sam Houston State.
Prior to the season, the Southland Television network had tabbed the final two weeks of the regular season as wild card telecasts based on the best overall matchups. The network will announce the final wild card telecast at a later date.
Sam Houston's non-conference victories this year came against Western Illinois (an NCAA FCS playoff quarterfinalist in 2010), FBS Mountain West Conference member New Mexico, and FCS independent UTSA.
The win over New Mexico marked Sam Houston's third victory over an FBS opponent.
In Southland Conference action, the Bearkats own wins over Central Arkansas (ranked No. 18 coming into the contest with SHSU), two-time defending Southland champion Stephen F. Austin, Nicholls and McNeese State (ranked No. 24 coming into the game)
The victory over UCA marked Sam Houston's 21st win over a top 25-ranked NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponent and was the Kats first Top 25 victory since defeating No. 25 Nicholls in 2007.
The win over McNeese marked only the second time in 24 seasons in the Southland Conference that Sam Houston State has won in Lake Charles. SHSU is now 2-11 as a Southland team at Cowboy Stadium. The win was only the fourth Southland victory over the Cowboys in 24 attempts.
Tickets for both of Sam Houston's remaining home football games are available on line now at www.gobearkats.com/tickets .
The Sam Houston Athletic ticket office located in the Ron Mafrige Field House at Bowers Stadium is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The ticket office telephone is (936) 294-1729.
