The Bearkats' 6-7 senior center led Sam Houston with 20 points in a 61-45 quarterfinal victory over Stephen F. Austin and 25 points in the 79-70 semifinal loss to UT-Arlington.
Clavell also was named all-tournament in 2010 after the Bearkats swept to victories over Nicholls, Southeastern Louisiana and SFA in the finals to win the tournament title and advance to NCAA "March Madness."
After leading No. 7 seed UTSA to the tournament title, the Roadrunners' sharp-shooting Devin Gibson was named tournament "Most Valuable Player."
Jeromie Hill of UTSA and Diego Kapelan and Patrick Richard of McNeese State completed the all-tournament honor squad.
Saturday's award at the tournament in Katy extends a long list of post-season honors for the Mayaquez, Puerto Rico product.
Clavell was the only Southland Conference player named as one a member of the 2011 United States Basketball Writers' Association (USBWA) All-District VII honor squad. The district includes all NCAA Division I teams in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.
Other honors for Clavell this season have included first team All-Southland Conference, Southland "Player of the Year" and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District team.
Clavell scored 603 points in 31 games for an average of 19.5 points per game this year.
The senior is the only junior college transfer to score 1,000 points or more in two years as a Bearkat. The conference's 2010 newcomer of the year has scored 1,166 points in 64 games since transferring to Sam Houston from Collin County Community College.
A five-time player of the week in his two seasons in Huntsville, Clavell's career scoring average of 19.5 points ranks as the third highest at Sam Houston, behind James Lister, the school's all-time scoring leader, who averaged 21.9 points in 1970-73, and Tom Sewell, who posted a 19.6 scoring average from 1952 to 1954.
