Kats to open CUSA men’s hoops slate at home

HUNTSVILLE — Conference USA announced the 2026-27 men's basketball league schedule on Thursday, revealing an 18-game slate for Sam Houston as the Bearkats look to build on their recent success under head coach Chris Mudge.

The Bearkats will open league play on New Year's Eve when they welcome Missouri State to Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum on Dec. 31 before hosting FIU on Jan. 2.

Sam Houston's conference schedule features nine home games and nine road contests, including home-and-home series against FIU, Kennesaw State, Liberty, Missouri State, NM State, Jax State, Delaware and WKU.

After opening league play at home, the Bearkats hit the road for games at Middle Tennessee (Jan. 7) and WKU (Jan. 9). Sam Houston returns to Huntsville for consecutive home contests against Kennesaw State (Jan. 14) and Jax State (Jan. 16).

The Bearkats close January with challenging road trips to NM State (Jan. 23), Liberty (Jan. 28) and Delaware (Jan. 30).

February begins with a pair of home games against WKU (Feb. 4) and Middle Tennessee (Feb. 6) before road swings to Jax State (Feb. 11) and Kennesaw State (Feb. 13). Sam Houston hosts NM State on Feb. 20 and closes its home schedule with contests against Delaware (Feb. 25) and Liberty (Feb. 27).

The regular season concludes with road games at FIU on March 4 and Missouri State on March 6.
