Men dominate at Demon Meet

The SHSU men totaled 10 first place finishes while the women produced three gold meals.
A. J. Edwards won both the long jump and the triple jump with marks of 25' 4.5" and 51' 3.5", respectively. Edward's triple jump was the third longest in Sam Houston history.
D. J. Hayes also earned two gold medals with a 21.26 mark in the 200 meter dash and a time of 46.94 in the 400 meters.
Scottie Jones won the 110 meter hurdles (14.40) and Jay Newman was first in the 400 meter hurdles (52.78).
Sam Houston also was tough to beat in the field events. Jacob Shultz (57' 7") and Preston Sanders (56' 0") finished first and second in the shot put. Shultz also won the discus (168' 7") with Sanders (159' 0"), Matt Johnson (150' 8") and Brek Christensen (146' 11") placing second, third and fourth.
Christensen won the hammer with a mark of 181' 10" and Trevor Sealy (175' 4") and Jason Russell (174' 4") out-distanced the field for second and third place. All three rank among the top eight in the hammer in the conference.
Ryan Oakes took first place in the pole vault with a mark of 15' 5"
