Three NCAA FBS transfers now Bearkats

Jarrett Brown, a 6-3 265-pound sophomore from the University of Oklahoma, joined the team for his first practice Sunday.
Emory Miller, a 5-11 195-pound redshirt freshman from the University of Wyoming, and Andrew Weaver, a 6-1 240-pound junior from Texas A&M, reported with the rest of the Bearkat squad last Wednesday.
Miller red-shirted as a quarterback at Wyoming as a true freshman in 2010 after signing with the Cowboys out of high school. He was a All-District 11-5A quarterback for coach Rodney Webb at Mesquite Horn High School. He passed for 2,678 yards and 22 touchdowns as a senior in 2009.
Weaver signed with the Aggies as a senior at Waco High School, red-shirting as a true freshman and serving as a reserve linebacker in 2010. At Waco, he was a two-time first team All-District 16-4A defensive end for coach Johnny Tusa. His final two years he recorded 82 tackles including 12 quarterback sacks. He led his team to the district title as a senior.
Brown worked as both a defensive end and tight end for the Sooners, red-shirting in 2009 and serving on the scout team in 2010. He was a first team All-District 4-5A selection and district defensive "Most Valuable Player" for head coach Kenny Perry at Arlington Bowie High School, He helped lead the Volunteers to perfect 6-0 district record and 11-2 season mark.
Preseason camp continues Tuesday with practices at 8 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. The Bearkats expect to hold their first preseason scrimmage Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
Sam Houston will open the 2011 season Thursday, Sept. 1 at Bowers Stadium against 2010 NCAA Division I playoff team Western Illinois. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
