Kats move up four spots to No. 16

The Bearkats traveled on the road for the first time this season, taking on the FCS Lobos. After watching New Mexico rally from 14 down in the fourth quarter to force overtime, the Bearkats were able to pull off the victory in the added frame.
"I can't say enough about our offensive staff and the play calling," SHSU head coach Willie Fritz said after the win. "We got the ball in the right people's hands, and we were able to mix it up with just enough passes to keep them honest and not pack up the box."
It was the first win for the Kats over an FBS opponent since 2001 when Josh McCown led the Kats to a 20-9 win over Louisiana-Monroe.
The No. 16 ranking is the highest for the Kats since 2007 when they were No. 15 following a loss to North Dakota State.
The NCAA/FCS Coaches Poll ranked the Bearkat football team for the first time this season, moving the Kats to No. 18. They were the highest moving team in this week's poll.
The Kats debuted last week at No. 20 in the Sports Network poll.
