Thomas Named Player of the Week

Sam Houston State junior forward Sequeena Thomas has been named Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
It is the second time this season Thomas has claimed the honor.
Thomas helped lead Sam Houston to a 2-0 week in conference play with wins over UT Arlington and Nicholls State. Thomas, a native of Allentown, Pa. (Parkland H.S.), recorded a season-best 18 rebounds in 58-41 win against UTA to go along with 23 points.
The Bearkats' forward continued her strong performance on the glass against Nicholls State, pulling down 10 rebounds.
For the week, Thomas averaged 14.0 rebounds and 14.0 points per game. Thomas also recorded four blocks, two steals and two assists during the week.
In conference play, Thomas ranks second the Southland with 13.0 rebounds per game. Sam Houston is only one of two teams with a perfect 3-0 record in conference play.
Next action for the Sam Houston State women's basketball team will be a road contest at Texas State in San Marcos Wednesday night.
