Homecoming Week Events and Promotions

Sam Houston State will be buzzing with excitement as homecoming week kicks off Monday. The festivities culminate Saturday Oct. 20 as the Bearkats host McNeese State at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on Comcast SportsNet Houston.
The events start with the Kick-Off Rally Monday at Bearkat Plaza at 12 noon where the football team will make an appearance.
Wednesday, SHSU Athletics will be doing a "Hide and Tweet" promotion offering Whataburger prizes and coupons from approximately 9:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Students will be encouraged to follow Bearkat Athletics on Twitter (@BearkatSports) for clues and passwords to win prizes at eight individual locations around the SHSU campus. The first student to arrive at the correct location with the password will win a $25 gift card from Whataburger. Other students appearing to the correct location with the password, within 15 minutes of the tweet, will receive coupons for Whataburger food products. SHSU Athletics will also provide various prizes for participants.
The annual Homecoming Parade is Thursday night starting at 6:30 p.m.
Game day excitement begins early as Brookshire Brothers hosts a special pregame tailgate party in the Brookshire Brothers parking lot at 2601 11th Street in Huntsville. The event will run from noon to 2 p.m. The event will feature an appearance by Sammy Bearkat and the Sam Houston marching band. There will be free food, prizes and football ticket giveaways.
Brookshire Brothers is the title sponsor for the 2012 Sam Houston Homecoming game. Bearkat athletics will set up a tent & table near Brookshire Brothers entrance to distribute promotional items, tickets to the football game, and other prizes.
The excitement shifts back to campus later with the Bearkat band's march to Bearkat Alley and the start of the Homecoming tailgate in the lot north of the Bowers Stadium parking lot. Fans will gather near the library at 5:30 p.m. for the march that will begin at 6:00 p.m.
The Bearkats and McNeese State kick off at 7:07 p.m. The game is an "Orange Out" event sponsored by Whataburger. When the Bowers Stadium gates open, fans wearing orange will receive a Whataburger coupon.
Co-sponsors for the 2012 Homecoming game are Fairfield Inn & Suites - Conroe, KSAM, State Farm Insurance, and Suddenlink.
