Ladyjacks Blank Kats 4-0

League-leading Stephen F. Austin defeated Sam Houston 4-0 in a Southland Conference women's soccer match Friday night in Nacogdoches.

SFA remains undefeated in league play with a perfect 5-0 record. The Lumberjacks upped their season mark to 13-3 with the win. Sam Houston stands in fourth place in the Southland standings. The Bearkats are 6-9-1 and 3-2-1 in conference play.

Rachel Owens opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a goal at the right post on a ball headed to her feet from Laura Sadler.

Melissa Gaudet headed in the Jacks' second goal in the 38th minute to take a 2-0 lead at intermission. Brenda Salazar scored in the 70th minute and Chelsea Raymond tallied the final goal in the 88th minute.

The Lumberjack defense limited Sam Houston to three shots. Two were fired at the goal by Tricia Mallory. Goalkeeper Kylie Hambleton made 10 saves on SFA's 24 shots.

Sam Houston State will play its final home match of the 2012 season Sunday at 1 p.m. at Pritchett Field against McNeese State.
