Bowlers Seek Big Wins In Delaware

Sam Houston won the Tulane Invitational and was the runner-up at the Bethune-Cookman Wildcat Classic in October and won the Hornet Invitational in Montgomery, Ala. last week. The Bearkats own a 26-5 record in dual match play.
Ten of those 26 victories have come over top 20 teams. No. 8 ranked SHSU is 5-7 against the top 10 including wins over No. 2 Arkansas State and No. 3 Fairleigh Dickinson.
With 13 of the 18 teams in the Hawk Classic nationally ranked, the Bearkats are looking to add to their collection of top ranked wins.
The tournament will be played at the Millsboro Lanes and is hosted by No. 1 ranked Maryland Eastern Shore. Other top 10 teams along with UMES and SHSU in the field are No. 3 FDU, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 6 Central Missouri, No. 7 Sacred Heart, No. 9 Valparaiso and No. 10 Stephen F. Austin.
Other top 20 teams in the tournament are No. 11 Norfolk State, No. 12 Kutztown, No. 13 New Jersey City, No. 20 Delaware State.
The tournament format will consist of five total pin baker matches on Friday, five traditional team games on Saturday and baker best-of-seven bracket finals on Sunday. Total pin count from the first two rounds will decide the seedings for the Sunday bracket play.
In last week's Hornet Invitational, Bearkat bowlers Neishka Cardona and Kimi Davidson both were selected to the all-tournament team after producing the two highest total pin averages in traditional team match play.
