Darnell Taylor, Timothy Flanders Honored

Safety Darnell Taylor and running back Timothy Flanders from Sam Houston State both are members of the 2012 College Sports Madness FCS All-America squad announced this past weekend.
The Bearkat duo paired to help lead Sam Houston to a second consecutive Southland Conference football championship and back-to-back NCAA Division I Football Championship playoff appearances this fall - a university first.
Flanders earned Southland Conference "Player of the Year" and Taylor league honors as "Defensive Player of the Year" for a second consecutive season as well.
The Midwest City, Okla., product led the Southland in rushing with 1,151 yards on 187 carries and 17 touchdowns. Taylor, a graduate of Mesquite High School, leads the Kats' nationally-ranked defense with 67 tackles including 54 solo stops.
Taylor is a first team selection on the CollegeSportsMadness.com All-America squad while Flanders was named to the second team.
Sam Houston State plays host to Cal Poly Saturday at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium in an NCAA Division I Football Championships second round game. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
