Football jumps to No. 3 in polls

Sam Houston State moved up to No. 3 in both the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision Sports Network and NCAA Coaches Polls this week.
The Bearkats rolled over Southeastern Louisiana 70-0 to extend their current winning streak to six games. Sam Houston stands 7-2 for the year.
With a win over Northwestern State Saturday in Natchitoches, the Bearkats can claim the Southland Conference football championship for the second year in a row.
Sam Houston has been in the top 25 in the FCS polls a total of 21 consecutive weeks since debuting in the national poll on Sept. 9, 2011.
During an 11-0 regular season last year, the Kats rose all the way to No. 1 just before the national playoffs. They have ranked among the FCS top 10 for 18 consecutive weeks.
