Despite a two-hit, two RBI performance by designated hitter Sarah Allison and a strong showing in the pitching circle by right-hander Tomi Garrison, the Sam Houston State softball team fell to Wichita State 4-3 in the Kats' final game Sunday at the North Texas Mean Green Classic.

Down 1-0 after a first inning Shocker tally, Allison singled then scored on a triple down the left field line to tie the game 1-1. Sam Houston added two more runs on another Allison single in the third inning to go in front 3-1.

Wichita State bounced back for a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. The Bearkats had runners in scoring position at second and third base twice in the fourth inning and with one out in the top of the seventh inning but were unable to score again.

A walk-off run-scoring double by second baseman Hailey Temple ended the contest in the bottom of the seventh.

Garrison struck out four batters in six and a third innings work in the circle.

The Bearkats, who dropped to 0-8 for the year, play their first home games this Wednesday when Sam Houston hosts Prairie View A&M in a double header at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
