
Kats sign second QB

Jared Johnson, a 6-0 195-pound quarterback from South Grand Prairie High School, has signed a letter-of-intent to attend Sam Houston State and play football for head coach Willie Fritz new fall.
Johnson, an All-District 5-5A quarterback, has been a starter for head coach Brent Whitson the past three years. His career totals include 4,192 yards passing and 45 touchdowns. A dual threat, he also rushed for 1,304 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Last fall as a senior he threw for 1,342 yards and 16 touchdowns and ran for 397 yards and two scores.
"We're excited about signing Jared," Fritz said. "He's a talent young quarterback who can both throw and run."
Johnson is the second high school quarterback to sign with Sam Houston this month. Don King, III, from Dallas also inked a letter of intent with the Bearkats
Tuesday's announcement brings the total number of high school seniors to sign with Sam Houston to 17.
