2012 Track Signings

Signing with the Bearkats are distance specialists Ana Moreno from Magnolia West High School and Zach Goodlander from Willis High School; pole vaulters Ashley Thompson from Frisco High School and Garrett Rose from Irving Nimitz High School; and sprinter Ebony Collins from Randolph High School.
Coach Self is not done yet done adding talent to his young team. He believes that Track and Field will sign several more athletes during the spring.
"We're looking to add quite a few with the young bunch that we have. I think the young kids that we have are going to be very productive but we have a lot of space to fill. We've got a great group of kids that we're recruiting right now and it looks to be a great year for us.

"Ana's got some great marks despite some inconsistent coaching. She's had four different coaches all four years of high school. We really think that when she gets with a dedicated group of girls and gets a good training base underneath her that she has big room for improvement.
Ashley Thompson
Frisco High School
Pole Vault - 12' 6'' (Currently ranked #2 in the state of Texas)
2nd at 4A State Track and Field Championships in the Pole Vault (2011)
2nd at Region 2-4A Championships (2011)
1st at District 9-4A Championships (2010)
"Really excited about Ashley, she's the number two returning vaulter in the state of Texas. She comes in and she is in contention to probably be top three in the conference from the day she steps on campus."

"Both Zach's parents were Sam alums so they really kind of wanted him to stay in the area. He's really kind of been a Kat all along. He brings a lot to the table and is very good at distance running.
Garrett Rose

"Garrett has a large amount of ability and we believe he can make a large amount of improvement because he currently gets little technical training in a very technical event."
