More Indoor Success at Wichita

Sophomore Charles White took first in the triple jump with a jump of 49' 2.25". White also took second in the long jump (23' 6") and Henry Jordan finished fourth (22' 10.5").
Matthew Viverette continued his strong season, finishing the 60 meter hurdles in 8.06 seconds for a second place finish. The sophomore ranks second in the Southland Conference in the hurdles so far this year.
Bearkat head coach David Self believes that his two sophomore athletes can continue to improve.
"I do think they can keep getting better," Self said. "With Charles, its nice because he's basically been out of competition for two years with injuries and transferring, so to see him out there doing so well is great.
"With Matt, it was nice to see that after he ran a terrible prelim, and it's nice to say that when he ran his PR from last year, he was able to come out in the final and execute. He did the things he needed to and got another quality run."
Viverette also teamed up with Trey Jones, Matt Buegeler and Brian Helaire to earn second place in the 4x400 meter relay (3:21.63). Helaire also ran the individual 400 meter dash in 49.79 seconds, finishing third.
Freshman Karl Schreiber took third place in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:44.87.
Finishing fifth for the Kats were Jarrick Wright in the 60 meter dash (6.94), Matt Buegeler in the 200 meter dash (22.30) and Freddy Arellano in the 800 meter run (1:56.33).
The next meet for Kats will be the Sooner Indoor Invitational on February 18th in Norman Oklahoma. The competition will be the final tune up for the team before the Southland Conference Indoor Championships on February 24th.
