Football Championship Dinner tickets are $75 each and are available for purchase through the SHSU athletic department by calling (936) 294-4205.
Like the 2011 football season, the Championship Dinner will be a celebration long remembered at Sam Houston State University.
Program highlights will include the presentation of the awards for Southland Conference Player-of-the-Year, Offensive Player-of-the-Year, Defensive Player-of-the-Year awards; recognition of the eight Bearkats student-athletes who received All-America honors and an exciting video of 2011 football highlights.
The program also will include a live auction of exciting football memorabilia and other items.
"Sam Houston State's championship run to the NCAA finals brought national attention to the Huntsville community and our university like few events before," SHSU President Dr. Dana Gibson said. "We work forward in recognizing the student-athletes and coaches who represented Sam Houston State so well with this special celebration. This is an event not to be missed."
The 2011 Bearkat team rolled up 14 consecutive victories to earn a berth in the national finals as the No. 1 seed in the 2011 NCAA Division I Football Playoffs . The game marked the University's first appearance in the national finals.
The 14 wins represented the most victories in one season in SHSU's 96-year history. The 2011 squad also was the first Sam Houston State team to produce a perfect 11-0 regular season mark.
The 2011 Bearkats were only the eighth squad in the 48-year history of the Southland Conference to post a perfect regular season slate. Their 2011 Southland football championship is the program's 25 years in the league. However, the first three were co-championships, making this year's title the Bearkats' first undisputed league crown.
