Both teams enter the match with 4-7 season records after playing in tournaments with outstanding fields.
The Bearkats own victories over Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas Southern, Nebraska-Omaha and Tulane and went five sets with Colorado and Texas State in close losses.
The Golden Eagles own wins over San Jose State, Canisius, Arkansas-Little Rock and Austin Peay. ORU went five with Buffalo, Missouri State, Tulsa and Eastern Michigan before falling.
Deveney Wells-Gibson and Kendall Cleveland are the top scoring threats for Sam Houston. Wells-Gibson has totaled 155 kills to average 3.69 per set. She leads SHSU in scoring with 173 points. Cleveland has knocked down 112 kills.
Kim Black has been a stellar defender on the front line with 54 blocks. Setter Tayler Gray and libero Jamie Haas are averaging 3.57 and 3.98 digs per set, respectively.
Sheina Fernandes (122 kills) and Tatum Fredeen (121) are the top scoring threats for ORU.
