Led by Kendall Cleveland with 17 kills, Sam Houston State defeated Southeastern Louisiana 25-20 25-13 25-21 in a Southland Conference volleyball match Thursday night in Hammond, La.
The victory ups the Bearkats to 3-2 in league action and gives SHSU a 7-9 overall season mark.
Deveney Wells-Gibson totaled 15 kills and 11 digs for the Kats. Haley Neisler added five kills.
The Bearkats produced winning plays on 60 points while Southeastern Louisiana could muster only 37. The Lions dropped to 5-8 for the year and 1-4 in the Southland.
Camille Alfaro led the SHSU defense with 17 digs. Tayler Gray assisted on 44 kills.
